It's now February, 2011... And Donald Douglas is STILL alleging that I have "cyberstalked" him and that I was guilty of contacting his place of employment, or was in some way (any way) supportive of those among his many "enemies"--people drawn from all along the political spectrum who share one attribute; they dared to disagree with the great Donald Douglas----who have actually done so, in an effort to get him to stop attacking them on his blog.
The facts are not on his side, as the post and links below will attest. I have never contacted any of his employers, neighbors, family, or friends, and at no time have I ever encouraged anyone else to do so, either. In point of fact, I came out against doing so every time someone has taken this extreme step.
While I believe Dr Douglas is an embarrassment to the college where he teaches, it is up to them to pay attention to the damage he is doing to their reputation. Barring physical/photographic evidence of his breaking the law (or a verbal admission of same) or his becoming a threat to his students or the college, I will never get in touch with anyone associated with Donald Douglas' place of employment. I do believe that the folks at the college, both his superiors and his colleges--as well as all of his prospective students, of course--have a responsibility to read his blog and to pay attention to what he has to say, however. Whether or not they actually do, is up to them.)
Why Donald continues to lie about my involvement in contacting his college is anyone's guess, but I urge those who were actually interested enough to follow his link here to not just take Dr Douglas' word for it (or mine, for that matter), but rather to follow the links, weigh the evidence, and make up your own minds.
Hopefully I will not have to update this post again in 2012... ...but knowing Donald Douglas as I do, I've little doubt I'll be back next year...

(and no, Dr Douglas can't back his "racist" charge--note the name-calling he engages in on his blog--with anything of substance, either... It's as though he believes that alleging a thing it makes it so... It's amazing that anyone even takes him seriously, anymore...)

*** UPDATE by repsac3, d'brainz behind American Nihilist (or somethin') - 4/26/10 ***
In light of the fact that I do not think it's ethical to involve otherwise uninvolved people in political or personal conflicts (spouses/kids/parents, bosses/coworkers/clients, neighbors/clergy/???), and have repeatedly said so in posts and comments at every blog offering or other venue where this issue has been discussed; and because the author of this post is no longer a contributor to this blog--in part due to issues surrounding whether and how to respond to the things Donald Douglas posts, I suspect (Octopus and I never discussed why he removed himself from this blog and removed my authorship from his blog, The Swash Zone--only that it had taken place)--I am taking it upon myself to edit Octopus' post, and block the names and contact information for Donald's superiors at his place of employment.
While I still have mixed feelings about it--I still believe that Octo is a big boy who can defend his own post, and I don't like the idea of editing someone else's writing without their permission--Octo is not here to actually defend his post or to edit it, and I am left holding the bag. (To those who're currently contributors; as long as you're a blogger here, your posts are your responsibility to defend and/or change. Should you choose to walk away and leave me with that responsibility, you'll just have to trust that I'll do the right thing by both the blog and by you.)
In this case, given the absence of anyone left here who's willing to defend Octo's posting of the info in question, I'm substituting my ethics for Octo's, and doing what I think is right. While this isn't the only post at this blog that I personally find a little cringe-worthy, it's the only one that generates a lot of complaints (yes, pretty much all of them from Donald Douglas), and has no one willing to champion it's continued untouched existence.
I suspect that this will turn out to be a pretty unique set of circumstances that won't all converge again, but one never knows the fyutchum, do one...? If faced with somethin' like this again, I'll again bite the bullet, again weigh the options, and again make a choice... (Hopefully, I'll've saved this little speech for the occasion, so I won't have to go makin' up a whole new one...)
To those who followed a link here to be shocked and appalled that such information was really posted; Yep, it was really posted. Commence being shocked and appalled, and then if you're curious, follow the links above (as of 05/02/10, I'm still locating and adding links) to understand my reason for not removing the info earlier.
To those who followed a link here looking for that information for some other reason, whether innocent or "less so," you'll just have to find another source for it. There are several, including, ironically, the umpteen number of times Donald Douglas has himself linked to and quoted the information found here (or elsewhere), at various posts on his own American Power blog.
Forgive the big build-up for what'll amount to a bunch of "-'s" and "*'s," but it isn't everyday I censor another person's post, and I want to make my thoughts about doing so clear, both for and against...
I now return you to the original post, as written... ...well, almost.

In the English language, there are colorful expressions that we use daily. One usually takes these expressions figuratively, never literally … unless one is hell-bent on defaming the speaker. Here are a few examples of colloquial speech:
In natural language, we understand the connotation of these statements. But if you want to take a cheap shot, or defame someone outright, one chooses the literal misrepresentation. This is precisely what American Coward did to our esteemed colleague, Captain Fogg, with this blog entry:[actual statement] - {connotation} - (literal misrepresentation)
[You kill me] – {You make me laugh} – (Take my life)
[You’re fired] – {Lose a job} – (Immolation)
[Heads roll] – {Job dismissals based on fault} – (Decapitation)
Well Captain Fogg, the subject of our earlier investigation, is at it again, making death wishes for Rush Limbaugh and the folks at Fox News …But this is what our esteemed Captain Fogg actually said:
But even before all the chips are cashed, it's good to know that News Corp., Rupert Murdoch's media empire and the parent company of Fox, is down by the bow and taking on water – nearly six and a half billion dollars worth of water, that is ….Clearly, Captain Fogg is referring to a $6.5 billion dollar loss at News Corp. and the downsizing of personnel. Get it? A company loses money; it sheds people … as a dog sheds fleas or hair. In Captain Fogg’s context, decapitation does not mean decapitation. It means job loss … unless you are American Coward, a snot-nose kid who throws sand in your face and tattles: “Mommy, mommy, Captain Fogg threw sand in my face.” Wingnuts are famous for their use of projective identification.
And of course I have a list of candidates for decapitation, but before we get to feeling smug, the bad news in the good news in the bad news, is that amidst the general Murdoch meltdown, Fox News itself reported income of $428 million, which is up $91 million from the previous year.
Of course, most snot-nose brats grow into civil adults, but not American Coward who seems to suffer from acute arrested development disorder. Nor should any of this surprise you: What students say about the Paleocon who teaches at Long Beach Community College:
2/4/09 - Polit1: This man needs to teach at a Junior High School where his personal politics wont matter to the students. Avoid this class. Try another instructor or you will waste your money.Yup! How many angels can you fit on a pinhead! We know these behaviors all too well, and why some of you bother with this pinhead is beyond me. The Coward is not welcome at The Swash Zone; we delete his comments immediately. More disturbing are the comments and e-mails left by his followers: Profane, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic … worthy of report to the FBI. What to do?
8/13/08 - polscg45N: He should not be teaching at all to a group of people. He treats class as if it was a television show of politics that was about ready to be cancelled.
8/10/08 - PoliS101: The dude is from pure loserville, he sounds like a lib, claims to be a republican, puts way too much personal anger in the class, he hates it if you disagree, will make your life miserable if you do. One of the worst professors I ever saw.
9/27/05 - int'l relations: he is a total ****. He lies and bullies students ... he even makes crap up. I had the 2nd highest A in the class and then somehow got a D! He disagreed with my opinions and then held them against me. He contradicts himself in lectures. He sucks. Don’t take him!
If the Coward or any of his followers harass you online you, contact --------- ---- ------ at (***) ***-**** or --------- -- -- -------- ------- ------ ---- at (***) ***-**** and describe the harassment. For serious online abuse or defamation, there is always this option (case file in progress).

I was always respectful of the Nutty Professor and then he went and banned me. It was one of my proudest blogging moments. I figured if I could piss off a guy who's life revolves around pandering to bigots, homophobes and fools I must be doing something right. And it got me membership in this group of Real Americans! God bless American Nihilist!
I second that thought.
I believe I mentioned that Murdoch said the "head count" needed to be reduced at his enterprises so I continued the metaphor. For some reason the Donald didn't accuse Rupert of what he falsely attributed to me; perhaps because attacking Murdoch would render his entire attack nugatory.
That tells the entire story, as far as I'm concerned. Selective literal interpretations of metaphor can reduce nearly anything to either gibberish or twist it to invidious purpose. People like Rush and Ann do this and they do it far better than this jerkwater instructor who is too used to bullying Junior College students to hone the skills he would need for the big leagues of bloviation.
Anyway, this is brilliant and I'm grateful and am adding a link to this great site.
A postscript to the above:
Note the pinhead's use of the phrase "earlier investigation," as if this grandiose self-appointment as investigator and judge confers some special status upon himself.
I said it before, and I'll say it again: The pinhead is a narcissist who thrives on attention. Paying attention to him is food for his narcissism. Why confer upon this fifth rate parasite at a fourth rate community college a higher status than he deserves?
When you validate his narcissism in this manner, it delays the day he gets himself into therapy!
A lot of actual paleos would be very offended to hear you call this man a paleo, which he most certainly is NOT. He's a neocon, a species paleos loathe more than anything. Read Paul Gottfried over at Takimag to get a sense of just how much they despise the likes of DD.
Poor Donald must have the admiration of his throngs (there are four maybe) of followers. They wage a constant battle to see which one of them can thank the Nutty Professor for his mind numbing and deluded cut and pastes.
By the way, thank you for this brilliant piece exposing the evil that is The Donald.
You all are fighting the good fight in one of the better ways possible with this site.
But, just to agree with the other anonymous - an actual paleocon would be extremely offended to be associated with Douglas. In many ways, you're actually complementing Douglas by calling him that, since you're associating him more with people like Daniel Larison and Andrew Bacevich than you are with the Bill Kristols of the world (and even that would probably be a nicer comparison than this guy deserves).
Thank you to the two anonymous commenters. I now know why I couldn't figure out how to pluralize anonymous, it's an adjective.
Anyway, I have some sympathy for paleos. I think "Limits of Power" is a great book that should be widely read. And I have the same feelings for Larison's blog. I just subscribed to AmCon magazine. Trying to keep an open mind, you know.
I hope the Republican party can regain their soul with some ideological cleansing, preferably w/o sending the rats to the Democratic party. I do understand that is the side of the spectrum they came from in the first place.
I stand corrected. In response to our two anonymous comments, I revised the original post and changed "Paleocon" to "Coward."
With respect to Bacevich, I have read The limits of power and agree about its importance. I was unaware that the term "paleocon" applied to this group.
"I was unaware that the term "paleocon" applied to this group."
That's because you're a freaking idiot, O)CT(O)PUS ...
And boy, does it take a coward to know one. Be sure to say hi to Eloy and Don for me, will you?
Brilliant response there, Donald...
Though you do seem to enjoy it, name-calling will never get you anywhere...
But hey, thanks for visiting... Sorry that we don't serve up those ego-stroking "Donnie-snax" you so enjoy giving & getting over at AP. Mutual masturbation just isn't our bag.
What? No mutual masturbation? That's not the nihilism I signed on for.
I'll see his nihilism and raise him ... with registered letters to Eloy and Don that ups the ante. Be careful what you ask for, Mr. Douglas.
Individual masturbation is still cool, right? It does slow down my comment typing speed but it's worth it in the end.
OCTOPUS,
That's childish and ridiculous to post a person's employment information to threaten them with loss of income.
What of "free speech"?? Do we really respect free speech if we try to punish someone by taking away their income... or try to intimidate them with threats of same??
Is that the "America" nihilists envision??
What's the vision of the nation?? Nihilists opinions only??
Shees.
Instead of "lashing out" - can you try a lil conflict resolution??
T101 - Is this all a protest because you want back on the American Power blog to comment again??
You know, I never did block you out of my blog. I just shut it down for a while. I really should be more focused on work instead of enjoying blogging. I gotta rock the world for Jesus, ya know?? Like, I gotta become an executive at the corporate office by some really rapid climb up the corporate ladder, launch a Great Awakening, and get all this stuff done now. You can visit me on my blogs.
Do you guys want me to mediate here??
See, I don't have this testosterone thing going on. And I always tend to laugh at JBW and all.
Even if he disses me... usually it's with grace of good humor. :)
Grace: What of "free speech"?? Do we really respect free speech if we try to punish someone by taking away their income... or try to intimidate them with threats of same??
Grace, this is not a free speech issue. It is about treats received in the form of comments and e-mail from followers of Mr. Douglas, which I attribute to incitement of his part. I left a more detailed comment under the post "Feline Anti Nihilist of the Week" (two posts above), a brief excerpt as follows:
My point: Mr. Douglas is not the only blogger who receives threats. I have received them too, and the pseudonyms behind those threats appear in comment threads at his blog. Threats of violence and death should be countenanced under no circumstances, and I am well within my rights under law to hold him accountable. When Mr. Douglas writes a post about me, or any of my writers, in such a manner as to motivate his followers to leave threatening comments at my site, this is incitement.
I have no more patience or sympathy for Mr. Douglas.
OCTOPUS said: "Grace, this is not a free speech issue. It is about treats received in the form of comments and e-mail from followers of Mr. Douglas, which I attribute to incitement of his part."
Well, I would like some treats. Any twinkies available?? Please pass the twinkies. You know, I've been on Donald's blog for a while... he never gave me treats.
I think he likes you.
:)
Do you think you could lighten up?? That would be so pleasant.
I'm not certain, but I think you are spraying ink in an effort to cloud the waters to cover your own ***.
lol
Individual masturbation is encouraged & expected of everyone, of course... ...that's why we're teaching it in schools.
It really isn't about "free speech," Grace... It's just about speech. Just as we have a right to know whether the people we entrust with our lives (pilots, bus drivers, doctors) abuse drugs, those who put Donald in a position of power over others have a right to know whether he will abuse that power. Personally, I find it hard to believe that such an opinionated blowhard could keep his ideas & ideals out of his classroom grading, but without proof to the contrary, I'm willing to accept that he does. Still, I hope that folks do keep an eye on him, and take any accusation of political or social bias very seriously.
Every time Donald goes to the well of credibility that his teaching credentials offer, he in effect becomes a representative of his school. It's not about what he believes, but the scholarship with which he defends his views and the respect he shows to those who differ with him that are the brushes with which he paints his college.
I don't blame Donald for his more moronic followers. Those that express violent or bigoted thoughts are their own keepers, and not the fault of Donald. His "us vs them" "good vs evil" thinking about the world does lend itself to assholes, but does not make Donald himself a bigoted or violent asshole. It just makes him intellectually wrong.
I have little interest in poor Donald's employers, because I've never seen him say or do anything to warrant contacting them. As I said above, I do think they should read his blog & be aware of his antics, but that's up to them, not me. If I was to judge the rest of the college by the caliber of educational fortitude & personal qualities Donald shows, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend the place to anyone, but that's me... ...and as I've said, I find it hard to believe that Donald could behave in person any way near the way he chooses to on the web.
Grace, your offer to mediate is precious, but I fear it would be like the blind leading the blind. Perhaps after you remove that log from your own eye, we'll discuss your ability to mediate any rational discussion.
As for treats, you receive one of those "thanks for posting" Donnie-snax after just about every post over there... You stroke him, & he pats you on the head every time... The mutual admiration society over there becomes a bit too incestuous for my tastes.... But you just keep strokin', Grace...
If Donald apologises I will come back and give hima foil and the intellectual thrashing he so richly deserves Grace. Speaking of thrashing, it's almost masturbation time. Thanks for the reminder Grace.
repsac,
Yeah, well, I'm not sure even music would soothe nihilist savage beasts. It was a test of civilization. To the civilized, the test was failed. But to nihilists, hey... refusing to make peace is probly "right", escalating conflict, well... it's probly it's right to be angry at Donald for "name-calling", act self-righteous, indignant, and moralistic about "name-calling" then turn to call him an "***hole". Is it a goal of nihilists to attack others for the speck in their eyes, while ignoring the log in their own??
The bottom-line is that the political views are DIFFERENT. Honestly, all you are doing is evaluating Donald on a stringent standard of behavior to which you don't hold yourselves -- because he's stating different views. So you make up a whole blog post to trash him personally, complain about "defamation" and call him names. It's hilarious. You're so blind to your own faults... leading the blind... and all of this whole blog existing to attack Donald's pov.
Whatever. Peace and love.
T101 - that's pathetic.
Fact is, you guys have a blog that advertises Donald's blog... and I'm sure he's going places. :) I expect him to be on conservative talk radio soon.
Caught you, didn't I Grace. Tell the Nutty Professor I said hi.
