Donald Douglas Sums Up The Con Opposition To Health Care Reform...

...in one sentence or less. Describing a protest he attended Tuesday morning outside an event held by Loretta Sanchez, Dr Douglas says "We had a couple of leftists on foot stop and annoy us with personal stories of health problems...."

Tell it like it is, Don. Those pesky sick and injured, hoping to get medicines and treatment they can afford, can really spoil a beautiful day, huh...? I say screw 'em. Let 'em keep using the health care we have already. Why should we let the government dictate prices and determine treatments, when those nice folks at insurance companies already do such a fine job keeping healthcare from folks who most need it? Besides, if people can't afford medical care and the drugs they need, it's probably 'cause they're lazy... At least, that's what Michael Wiener (Savage) & the folks at FoxNews told me...

Donald whines about this article in the OC Weekly calling he and his fellow protesters the I-Got-Mine crowd, but judging by what Donald wrote, I'd say they have him (if not the whole group) pegged.:

What had these fine folks peeved? Was it continuing warfare? Rising joblessness? The meltdown of Cash for Clunkers? Nope, seems the demonstrators were there to lash out about healthcare. But they were not representing the millions and millions of Americans lacking insurance coverage, being denied valid claims or experiencing rising co-pays and assorted out-of-pocket medical costs. Nope, that's what the I've-Got-Mines pooh-poohing the Sanchez visit LOVE about the current health-care system.

The Corona del Martians instead took the congresswoman and President Obama to task for trying to improve the conditions of all Americans, economically and physically. Someone's going to have to pay for that, so out come the protest signs. "His agenda is frightening," explained one bottle blonde, probably fresh off The Orly Taitz Hour of White Power Hour on her plasma. Jiggle that diamond-studded bracelet and keep hope alive, honey!

Although I have my problems with the Nutty Professor, I still hope neither he or anyone else falls under the California budget ax and loses his health insurance.

Don't worry, Truth. It's California and he knows college students, so it shouldn't be any problem for Donald to stay on his meds...or at least find some acceptable substitute. Perhaps some magic mushrooms might help bring a little self-awareness to the American Power blog...or so I've been told.

I'm with ya, Truth...

Friend or foe, I don't want anyone to suffer... I was without health insurance for a year or two, a few years back, and it was rough. Luckily, I got through most of my time without it without acute injury or sickness, (I did have a dental problem that we ended up charging--and that we're probably still paying off), but I don't recall much else.

But because I didn't go to a doctor for what seemed to me to be more minor issues--my feet would fall asleep pretty easily, for one--and skipped anything so mundane & financially impossible as a wellness visit, my diabetes wasn't caught as soon as it might've been. So far I'm still not got any debilitating symptoms, but if/when I do, I'll wonder how much it would've helped to've caught it earlier.

(I was also quite lucky that I had insurance when I discovered my need for an ICD/Pacemaker combo... Even with insurance, it's costing me a whole lot (we're paying that off, too), and it won't be much longer (2-3 years) before I need to go back for a new one. I'm a dang heart attack special... Cholesterol, sugars, overweight, and an exertion-produced V-tach arrhythmia that so far, has only made me dizzy & short of breath, but which my cardiologist swears coulda killed me dead in minutes, suddenly and without much warning, before I got this battery pack in my chest. Yay me.)

Hopefully if Dr Douglas pops by, he won't be too annoyed by the stories of my personal health issues. And maybe it'll make him feel better to know that neither of us wishes him medical harm...

I am blessed with decent health. A decent job. A wife and family far better than I deserve. And membership in American Nihilist. If my taxes have to go up a bit to help pay for health care for Donald, Repsac and the rest of America, I'm good with that.

Doc, I think maybe Don has been overmedicating.

Reppy, I hope the best for you with your challenges. Glad to hear you at least have coverage. I went a few years recently with being uninsured and was lucky. Didn't have the blood clots until I was insured again. Still had a scrip that went almost $800. Even with reform we're going to have an uphill battle in this country. Without it, we're going to have many people hurting.
