Donald Douglas' War on E.D. Kain, Part 2

I just realized that I somehow missed several of Donald's "War on E.D. Kain" posts that chronologically should've been somewhere in Part 1. (The blogger search engine is wonky, and sometimes repeats the last post of one page on the bottom of the next... Somewhere along the line, I got confused...)

I also realized that I just don't have the time to delve as deeply into these older posts as I did in Part 1. (The original intent was to just list 'em, but then I wanted to give quick examples of the kind of attacks Donald was making, and the next thing I knew, the excerpts were getting longer, and I was commenting on them, as well.)

Back to basics:

Donald Douglas' War on E.D. Kain has been going on longer than I realized, comprises more posts than I thought, and has gotten more and more vicious.

Kain, or whether he'll just say anything in furtherance of "taking down" his supposed "enemies".

11) Wednesday, July 29, 2009: American Power: Ordinary Cowardice at Ordinary Gentlemen The most telling quote from this post isn't what Donald says about E.D. Kain. It's what he says about those who are with him ideologically, but think he made a poor decision when he posted a working link to the Erin Andrews peeping tom video that the perp just got convicted for, and defended his decision to exploit Ms. Andrews that way on the basis of "newsworthiness and increased blog hits". "I've been keeping my responses in the Erin Andrews backlash to a minimum. I'm hanging back right now, preparing the publication here of a bombshell exposé that's going to reveal Cassandra, Joy McCann, and Dan Riehl for the lying weasels they are. (Laying down the dirty hypocrisy on these freaks is going to rock the blogosphere.)" It's my understanding that this bombshell post consisted of releasing the contents of private e-mails between these fellow bloggers and himself, in one case betraying a confidence that the other blogger specifically requested he keep because she was concerned about a stalker. Classy, Donald. Tell us more about that integrity, why don'cha...

"Beyond his abject dishonesty and spinelessness (discussed here), E.D.'s made a name for himself with his incoherent ramblings at the Ordinary Gentlemen. He's a stream-of-consciousness smear-master who's never learned the meaning of terms like "concision" and "parsimonious." Not only that, he's an Andrew Sullivan myrmidon, which raises obvious questions of integrity (if not sanity) all by itself."

Kain, who possesses the moral backbone of a leech. In speaking about C.J.'s crazed machinations, E.D. suggested, "If you are honestly committed to conservative principles, you simply don’t abandon them because of the reasons Johnson lists." Ha, and that's coming from a guy who used to run a neoconservative blogging platform entitled "Neoconstant," but who burned all his bridges to the writers he recruited there when he developed a man-crush on Andrew Sullivan himself!
It's just obvious that this kind of pathological deceit is routine among the ideological invertebrates who've slithered over to the left, or who just wormed their way back to familiar ground after a period of rank political duplicity.

17) Thursday, December 10, 2009: American Power: Sleaze-Blogger E.D. Kain Reaches Pinnacle of 'Conservative' Blogosphere! Simultaneously Linked by Andrew Sullivan and Charles Johnson! "The inimitable sleaze-blogger E.D. Kain, erstwhile neoconservative and publisher of the now-defunct political webzine Neoconstant, has broken the final barriers of obscurity to capture the highly-coveted Conor Friedersdorf Wannabe Award for Faux-Conservative Punditry!" "biggest gasbag" "Andrew Sullivan myrmidon and closet leftist" "supreme anti-right-wing smear-mastery" "E.D., the aspiring slander-master at the League of Ordinary Gentlemen," "butt-freak arrogance that's dribbling off the page like a milky load of Andrew Sullivan's spooge." "E.D. Kain's an intellectual mountebank and an ideological imposter. I'd say a yellow-bellied backstabber as well, but I've covered that ground before" "E.D. Kain, po-mo-prick-in-arms to the wannabe right's libel-blogging contingency." Yes, these are the considered arguments of a professor of political science at the college level. Now remember... Up to this point, E.D. Kain ignored Donald and every last one of these attacks, entirely. (Far more self-control than I have...)

His first response--which he admits was a poor one--was to send an e-mail to the chair of the History/PoliSci Dept at the college where Donald Douglas teaches, hoping to get some insight into how to get Donald to stop. Kain didn't ask the chair to do anything or file any kinda formal complaint; he was looking for advice, from someone who knows Donald. Kain expected that the whole thing would be confidential, not realizing that the chair was apparently required to inform Donald about the "complaint." (And worse, Kain made the mistake of sending a second e-mail, wondering why the chair didn't just reply to him, explaining the situation, rather than passing the info--including Kain's name, but not the e-mails themselves, which Donald claims never to've seen--to Donald Douglas.)

And (some of) the rest is history... (I think there's 3-4 post-contact posts that I haven't addressed... Perhaps I will, perhaps not... I'm tempted, because there's some pretty crazy claims in some of 'em that deserve to be investigated more closely, and if I don't, who will?)
