Yo Donald: Using the Word "Gay" as Pejorative? TISWWT!!

"And I didn't know this about "Homosapien," from Wikipedia, "It was banned by the BBC for explicit reference to gay sex, e.g. the words "homo superior / in my interior." Banned songs? Not so good. Besides, I just liked the beat, LOL!

James B. Webb's no doubt hip to it. He's got the knowledge. NTTAWWT!!"

Donald: Calling or intimating that a man is "gay" in an effort to insult him does little more that show you to be insensitive at best, and more likely, a straight up bigot. And contrary to what you seem to believe, given the frequency with which you make these gay/sissy/??? references about those with whom you disagree, There Is Something Wrong With That!!

And why, you may ask, is James B. Webb "gay," according to Donald Douglas? For those who weren't there or don't remember, here is Donald's "guilt by association, by association" meme:
James Webb's blog contains a link to the homepage of The Out Campaign, a site whose mission it is to increase atheist visibility, on which there is a link to their blogroll, a list containing 1290 blogs. Number fifty-two on the list is Alexander The Gay's blog, and is thus according to Donald's theory, JBW's gay lover, and the illegitimate stepson of everyone on JBW'S blogroll... ...or something.

Dr. Douglas, just so you know, TSWW guilt by association, too!!

Consider treating people with more respect, and perhaps being more intellectually honest, as well. Don't forget that American Power and Brain Rage' are listed together on MY blogroll... ...so you may want to be sure that none of "teh gay" from Alex's site on the blogroll of the Out website listed on James' site, which is in turn listed on my blogroll somewhere near your site, got on ya... I mean, who'd want THAT?

Man, you're really trying to nail me to a wall, Reppy. But keep trying. I didn't call anyone gay. The link goes to "How to Get a Blogger Content Warning," and the passage at that post notes:

"JBW at Brain Rage provides the reference to Alexander the Gay's blog, which has been flagged by Blogger with a 'Content Warning', 'despite 3 years plus of blogging with family in mind' ....

"No doubt that Big Boy Alex and his "fat" friends enjoy the full support of not only JBW, but also DLB, Dr. Biobrain, Capt. Fogg, (O)CT(O)PUS, Repsac3, Tim Gaskill, Truth101, and Libby Spencer! (All of the aformentioned are "followers" and allies of Andrew Sullivan, that paragon of moral virture!)"

The only thing I'm insinuating is that JBW and the rest of you guys are down with the barebacking lifestyle, i.e., it's totally cool. I don't think so, but that's different from insinuating someone is gay.

All in your mind, Reppy!

And just to show you're a total hypocrite, I noticed that you haven't taken Andrew Sullivan to task for his real TISWWT blogging. See, 'Sarah Palin’s Breasts and Andrew Sullivan'.

Also, you attack me for not having a sense of humor (Dana Pico and Independence Hall), but when I make an innocuous joke, it's the end of the world.

Feh ... loser.

Sorry, I recognize that this is slightly off topic. It really belongs with the previous post, but commenting stale posts is pointless.

The Chronicle has posted another eye-witness account backing up Dr. Ng's earlier account of a systematic shooting. In this Dr. Moriarity describes the killer's attempt to kill her, a collaborating white female colleague.

DD's ridiculous and self-serving purge-of-"quota hires" theory of the crime has been thoroughly refuted. Not that any thinking people might have taken it seriously from the start.

I suspect that returning to campus after the holiday weekend finally brought him back in touch with whatever shreds are left of his individual sense of professional responsibility and, perhaps, shame. Since, then he's been following his established MO and attempting to bury his failure as a human being under a blizzard of insipid posts about popular nonsense.

It's no mystery why he's never produced a scrap of scholarship. He clearly lacks what it takes to make it through any sort of peer review.

I stand by what I wrote, Donald... (Perhaps later I'll link up a few other examples of your homophobic bigotry. (Several instances of "James "Barebacker" Webb" and the "real men don't knit" post come to mind, just off the top of my head). You do indeed insinuate (& sometimes outright call) that men with whom you disagree are gay in an effort to smear them. That you try to deny it when called on it only makes you look like a coward who won't stand behind what you write.

As far as Andrew Sullivan, he's absolutely off the wall with the Trig nonsense (but only slightly moreso than you are when trotting out some of your odd theories -- This whole "Amy Bishop as liberal extremist, no, racist, killer" as just the most recent one, and the "I'm just reporting the news" 12 (or so) post spread of Erin Andrews exploitation, complete with a link to the peeping Tom's video, for another), though I disagree with Rubin about the "breast" post -- there are plenty of examples of sexualizing Sarah to get one's point across on both sides of the aisle -- again, perhaps I'll find & add a few links in support later -- and besides, for good and ill, our culture is to blame for that. Sex sells. AND, even if you were correct, are you really saying that two wrongs make a right, and it's OK for you to disparage men by insinuating homosexuality, because Andrew Sullivan's mean to Sarah? Please... I don't have the time or the will to call out everyone who offends anyone. I do what I do, and the fact that I don't get to everyone you think I should is in no way hypocritical. You call Sully out frequently (noting he is gay practically every time, though it's seldom relevant to the topic -- Look, another example of your homophobic bigotry, right there). The fact that you don't also call out everyone else who offends in a similar way doesn't make you a hypocrite, either. We do what we do, and we start where we start... Suggesting that one must criticize all, or the criticism of an individual becomes somehow less valid, is just silly. It's like saying that a a guy who sends a small donation to feed the children of Haiti is bad because, unless he sends a few bucks to every region with starving kids, it proves he doesn't really care about kids anywhere. Sorry, Donald. Dumb theory. We do what we do, and make a difference where we can...

My whole point is that calling or insinuating that someone is gay and/or less of a manly man, in an effort to disparage them, isn't an innocuous joke. It's bigotry, and it breeds more and more virulent bigotry. The Pico thing, on the other hand, was an innocuous joke, made by someone who is generally your friend, and your over the top reaction said alot about the kind of person you are, in my opinion.

But as always, I leave it for the folks reading to weigh our responses, and decide for themselves...

Loser, huh? Too bad... You almost made it through the whole comment without any meaningless ad hom... Would've been a rare thing, indeed...

It is off topic... So I hope you don't mind that I moved it... (There are no stale topics here at American Nihilist... only stale nihilists... ...and pointlessness, obviously... 8>) I'll respond to the Amy Bishop portion of your comment there...

But since Dr. D is here, & all...

I suspect that returning to campus after the holiday weekend finally brought him back in touch with whatever shreds are left of his individual sense of professional responsibility and, perhaps, shame.

No, that's never been my experience with Dr. Douglas... Once he latches on to something, he seldom rethinks it or admits error. At best--as you surmise below--he just stops talking about it, as though he never said it.

Since, then he's been following his established MO and attempting to bury his failure as a human being under a blizzard of insipid posts about popular nonsense.

He recently made a decision to broaden his blogging to include fluff. I'm not down with it, but it's not my blog... The sycophants don't seem to mind though, and I confess that I enjoy some of his music posts. (& I'd say so too, if I didn't think he'd use it against me, somehow... There's little separation between the partisan & the personal, with Donald... If he doesn't agree with your politics, you are the enemy, through & through... No Reaganesque "fight it out in the White House/Congress all day, then come by the (White) house for poker & a few drinks at night" with him... A political foe is a personal foe, then, now, and always. I'm not just wrong, I'm a loser (or a faggot), too. Pity.) ((Though to be fair, I'm sometimes kind of a dick to him now, as well... though I maintain that I only made it personal because he did, & in response to the fact that he did. And even still, I sometimes get the urge to reply appreciatively when he posts about a band I've seen in concert, or whatever... ...but after what he did with one of my facebook pic's (see Comrade Repsac), I know better than to offer him too much of an open hand, because he only replies with fists.))

You are right about his burying his crap like a cat in a box, though... ...and as you can see from his comment above, denial ain't just a river to him, either...

It's no mystery why he's never produced a scrap of scholarship. He clearly lacks what it takes to make it through any sort of peer review.

Yeah, I don't much go there... By most accounts--& especially his own, of course--he's not too bad a teacher, and I admire the profession & his place in it. Unless/until I see proof that he's lacking, I refrain from attacking that part of his life. (Yes, I do question whether he can keep his politics out of the classroom, and I wonder that a guy who writes some of the things he does is qualified to be a professor, but as I said above, by most accounts, he is... In fact, it heartens me to believe that he's not such a nakedly partisan ass, in person.))

I'll get to your "other" comment, (all of 'em, in fact) later... (Running late, already...)

C'mon my fellow Nihilists. WE need to give the Professor a break. He is a very sensitive man who has been known to cry. And with the figure skating on tonight he can't be expected to defend himself at the drop of a hat or pull of a zipper.

So can you escape from that, ol' massa Doug? Of course you can! You shit on the rug and tell us it's a bon-bon and we're just not hip enough to get it, but maybe next time use your own damned rug cause it smells pretty much like you're a racist gaandu to me.

What did I do to get dragged into this?

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a "follower" (whatever that means and NTTIAWWT) of Andrew Sullivan.

Suck eggs, "Professor" Douglas.

Doctor Biobrain said...

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I am not, nor have I EVER been a "follower" or ally of Andrew Sullivan.

Barebacking is most definitely a way of life for me, ever since Obama and Ayers taught me how to do it right. But Sully will always be a hack, no matter what he writes. Even a nihilst has got to have some standards.

Now I'll go back to my undisclosed pain bunker in Kenya.

Doctor Biobrain said...

Oh, dammit. Teach me not to read the whole board. Now I see that ex DLB made the EXACT SAME denial I made. Great. Now I just look like a stupid copycat.

I, however, don't have to fantasize about Professor Douglas sucking eggs, as I now have an app for that on my iPhone. And yeah, Donald, I've got the Barebacking App too, and it's dedicated ALL TO YOU, buddy. It's got rimjobs, pig parties, honker doodles, even a few piddly squanks. All the stuff you've read about that disgusts you so much that you can't get the images out of your pretty little mind.

But hey, I tell myself that I'm joking whenever I'm pleasuring myself, so it's all in good fun. And trust me, if you saw the goofy grin on my face, you'd KNOW it's funny.

Did you just try to grab my ass, Don? And don't say that from where you're standing that it's a physical impossibility, I know your tricks!
