Added 2/25/11: In the comments below, Donald seems pretty intent on being sure everyone knows that last July, he not only spelled another "nihilist" "communist" "hatemonger" blogger's name wrong in one of his many attack screeds, but that he did so two different ways (both wrong) in the space of two sentences. Fair enough: At Lawyers, Guns, and Money, on July 15, 2010 at 9:09 pm, SEK says: "And his response is just sad. I don’t mind if he spells my name wrong, but it offends the profession when he spells it differently twice in two sentences."
And yes, as Donald has repeatedly pointed out below, I did indeed reply to SEK's comment by saying: "AmNeo’s spelling/grammar/typo errors are become legendary. And as per his usual modus operandi, all such verbal errors are only fodder for partisan attack when they are committed by his oh so many enemies… It must be a ‘pubbie/Con thing… It’s always different when THEY do it…"

Actually, the funniest thing about my "legendary" link (particularly in light of his comments about my failure to proofread my post) is how Donald blithely explains away his own error: "I had forgotten to proofread before going out to the bookstore, but hey, you really got me."

One doesn't need to stand on principle to defend popular speech, because no one opposes popular speech. It just means that more people come to your site. While hitz is good for advertising dollars, it doesn't equate to quality. If you posted porn, you'd easily double your hitz... (you're still getting pervs looking for the link to the Erin Andrews link you posted--talk about creepy, btw...)--but they likely aren't/wouldn't be coming or staying for the politics.

Fisking most certainly is (or can be) analysis. The whole idea is to respond to what the other person actually says, rather than your method, which amounts to paraphrasing what folks say, often inaccurately, so that you can knock down the straw men you build, and declare victory. It's far harder to make those specious allegations when you quote folks, verbatim. You ought to try it, sometime. (Granted, you'd lose your whole schtick, but at least you'd force yourself to be more honest.)
"Wisdom," however, is in the eye of the beholder. I leave it to others to decide for themselves whether or not the things I write are wise. Your vote on the matter is noted.

You are an associate professor of political science, who earned a PhD. Tell me that the comments here in any way reflect that level of education or supposed sophistication.
